BACK PAIN

As many of you know, mainly because I am a wimp and have whined to many, I hurt my back Monday morning. It wasn't grandiouso like lifting 500 lbs or somethin I normaly do, it was putting on my shirt...hahaha I know, I know. But this is the worst "owweee" I have had in a long time. Of course you may say that I have had a "pain in the neck" for the last 13 years, but I would just never say that.

I went to the doc and he gave me some muscle relaxer, only made me loopy (not enough muscle to relax). I also got some anti-inflammatory. But my hemorroids are still burnin like Icy Hot in your pits. The pain in my back still hurt, so I went back to the doc and he gave me a shot. It was a little painful, but I think it helped. Today I had to keep moving my back so the sharp pains would stop. I could keep going on and telling you about all of my troubles, but my back hurts sitting here. (Kidding about having hemorroids, just thought it was funny-Mis said I should say this or everyone will think I have em')

Tips of the day

Mosquito spray.....
I was at a deck party awhile back, and the bugs were having a ball biting everyone. A man at the party sprayed the lawn and deck floor with Listerine, and the little demons disappeared.
The next year I filled a 4-ounce spray bottle and used it around my seat whenever I saw mosquitoes. And voila! That worked as well. It worked at a picni c where we sprayed the area around the food table, the children's swing area, and the standing water nearby.
During the summer, I don't leave home without it.....Pass it on.
A FRIEND'S COMMENTS:
I tried this on my deck and around all of my doors. It works - in fact, it killed them instantly. I bought my bottle from Target and it cost me $1.89. It really doesn't take much, and it is a big bottle, too; so it is not as expensive to use as the can of spray yo u buy that doesn't last 30 minutes. So, try this, please. It will last a couple of days. Don't spray directly on a wood door (like your front door), but spray around the frame. Spray around the window frames, and even inside the dog house

3% PEROXIDE

This was written by Becky Ransey of Indiana
'I would like to tell you of the benefits of that plain little old bottle of 3% peroxide you can get for under $1.00 at any drug store. My husband has been in the medical field for over 36 years, and most doctors don't tell you about peroxide, or they would lose thousands of dollars.'

1. Take one capful (the little white cap that comes with the bottle) and hold in your mouth for 10 minutes daily, then spit it out. (I do it when I bathe) No more canker sores and your teeth will be whiter without expensive pastes. Use it instead of mouthwash. (Small print says mouth wash and gargle right on the bottle)
2. Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of 'Peroxide' to keep them free of germs.
3. Clean your counters, table tops with peroxide to kill germs and leave a fresh smell. Simply put a little on your dishrag when you wipe, or spray it on the counters.
4 After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other b acteria.
5. I had fungus on my feet for years - until I sprayed a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water on them (especially the toes) every night and let dry.
6. Soak any infections or cuts in 3% peroxide for five to ten minutes several times a day. My husband has seen gangrene that would not heal with any medicine, but was healed by soaking in peroxide.
7. Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water and keep it in every bathroom to disinfect without harming your septic system like bleach or most other disinfectants will.
8. Tilt your head back and spray into nostrils with your 50/50 mixture whenever you have a cold, or plugged sinuses. It will bubble and help to kill the bacteria. Hold for a few minutes then blow your nose into a tissue.
9. If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to a dentist right away, put a capful of 3% peroxide into your mouth and hold it for ten minutes severa l times a day.. The pain will lessen greatly.
10. And of course, if you like a natural look to your hair, spray the 50/50 solution on your wet hair after a shower and comb it through. You will not have the peroxide burnt blonde hair like the hair dye packages, but more natural highlights if your hair is a light brown, reddish, or dirty blonde. It also lightens gradually so it's not a drastic change.
11. Put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath to help rid boils, fungus, or other skin infections.
12. You can also add a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to a load of whites in your laundry to whiten them. If there is blood on clothing, pour directly on the soiled spot. Let it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.
13. I use pe roxide to clean my mirrors with, and there is no smearing which is why I love it so much for this.

I could go on and on. It is a little brown bottle no home should be without! With prices of most necessities rising, I'm glad there's a way to save tons of money in such a simple, healthy manner.

THE LIFELINE

After the usual ward business the bishop slowly stood up and walked over
to the pulpit and briefly introduced a guest who was in the congregation
that day. In the introduction the bishop told the ward members the guest
was one of his dearest childhood friends, and that he wanted him to have a
few minutes to greet the congregation and share whatever he felt would be
appropriate.

With that an elderly man walked up to the pulpit and began to speak.

'A father and his son, and a friend of the son, were sailing off the
Pacific Coast,' he began, 'when a fast approaching storm blocked any attempt
to get back to the shore. The waves were so high that, even though the
father was an experienced sailor, he could not keep the boat upright and the
three were swept into the ocean as the boat capsized.'

The old man hesitated for a moment, making eye contact with two teenagers
who were, for the first time since the meeting began, looking somewhat
interested in his story. The aged man continued with his story.

'Grabbing a rescue line, the father had to make the most excruciating
decision of his life: To which boy would he throw the other end of the life
line? He only had seconds to make the decision. The father knew that his
son had a firm testimony of Christ, and he also knew that his son's friend
did not. The agony of his decision could not be matched by the torrent of
waves. As the father yelled out, 'I love you son!' he threw out the
lifeline to his son's friend. By the time the father pulled the friend back
to the capsized boat his son had disappeared beneath the raging swells into
the black of the ocean's depths. His body was never recovered.'

By this time, the two teenagers were sitting up straight in the pew,
anxiously waiting for the next words to come out of the old man's mouth.

'The father,' he continued, 'knew his son would step into eternity as part
of an eternal family, and he could not bear the thought of his son's friend
stepping into an eternity without knowledge of the gospel. Therefore, he
sacrificed his son to save the son's friend.' 'How great is the love of God
that he should do the same for us. Our Heavenly Father sacrificed his only
Begotten Son that we could return to Him. I urge you,' the old man
continued, 'to accept his offer to rescue you and take a hold of the life
line He is throwing out to you.'

With that, the old man turned and sat down in his chair, as silence filled
the room. The bishop again walked slowly to the pulpit and delivered a few
closing comments.

Within minutes after the meeting had ended the two teenagers were at the
old man's side.

'That was a nice story,' politely stated one of them, 'but I don't think
it was very realistic for a father to give up his only son's life in hopes
that the other boy would accept the gospel.'

'Well, you have a point there,' the old man replied, glancing down at his
worn scriptures. Then a big smile broadened his narrow face. He once again
looked at the two boys and said, 'It sure isn't very realistic, is it? But I
am standing here today to tell you that story gives me a glimpse of what it
must have been like for God to give up His son for me. You see, I was that
father and your bishop is my son's friend.'

I thought this was an amazing story. Life sure has many ups and downs. But the sideway shifts are what change our life dramatically. This month's Ensign home teaching lesson is about the saviour. His life and example is truly one without compare. What would we do without the gospel in our lives. What would we do without the Holy Ghost? There have been times that I have been without the spirit in my life. They were the darkest times in my life! I am so greatful for the Atonement!!!

Hailey & Jesse

Mis is off to a ward conference this morning (she is in the stake primary presidency), the kids are watching an old recording of a Jazz game and making a fort out of blankets, so I thought I would take a moment and share our weekend experience.

Yesterday we had a spectacular day. We went to Hailey Funk and Jesse Fieldsted's wedding. It was awesome!!! They were married for all time and eternity in the Logan Temple. This is where Mis and I were married. The ceremony was very nice and Hailey, as usual, looked beautiful. We then went to the Cobble Mill restuarant for the wedding breakfast/reception. They decided not to have a "regular" reception. I think it is a good idea. We joked around as we were waiting for everyone in the temple, by the stairs that led down to the cafeteria, that when our kids get married to simply get sealed, send everyone downstairs for the wedding breakfast, and send them on their way :)

They had put together a wedding video with an interview of Jesse, Hailey, and clips of movies. It was fantabulous! Tear jerker too. She is the first grandchild of Mis's siblings. I really could spend pages on how great an evening it was with the Robins & Fieldsted families. Jesse, even though we don't know him very well, is a good man and he is very lucky to be with a very special woman.

Chase and Jenessa (not sure on how to spell her name, sorry Mrs. Funk if it is wrong) were there. As of today it has been 7 months since they were sealed in the Logan Temple as well. They are still very much in love. Grandma and Grandpa Uhrich were there. Beautiful and handsome as ever. Cody (Haileys brother serving a mission) has now missed two wonderful weddings of his siblings. More room and food for him when he returns :)

Getting in Shape

I have been inspired to get into shape and loose some weight. Not only because Mis and the kids always comment on it, but now co-workers and neighbors. Which is good. So I am publicly telling everyone so that my goal is set. Not a wish, but a goal.

I would like to look like this:

but I look like this:

I will settle for this:

My wife will love me!!!!! It is my ten year plan. Maybe I can find a costume like Alex that has built in muscles. Get a girdle to squeeze in the fat though. Wish me luck!!!!!!!

WE MISS OUR TREE!

This last year we had a tragedy happen on our street. Everyones favorite tree finally got pushed to far. So many neighborhood kids had climbed, swung, beat, played tag in, and more with the corkscrew willow. But a strong wind in September, I believe, split it in two.

It was a very sad day. It was our shade, landmark, prided and joy because it was one of the most tallest and fullest tree around. Who needs a toy when there are games to play around the tree.
Many family and friends still comment.

Today spring was definitely in the air. It was great to come home from work and see all of the kids playing outside. Mis and Amanda Hatch were on the porch basking in the sun chatting away. We will definitely miss our favorite tree this year in the hot sun.

Sleeping at the neighbors

This is too cool. I am excited to post most embarassing moments of our family. Such as Alex sleeping on his friend Tyler's couch. We sure appreciate good neighbors. We would do the same. Let me think??? Oh, we have. She slept in our front room snuggled up to "Bruno" our big stuffed animal. We will never let her live that one down. Here are a few of Alex. He is so cute sleeping. No further comment is needed :)
